EDUC LABEL FRAMEWORK
Four Years of R&D – 120 Criteria
The EDuC Label framework is a set of 120 criteria developed under the guidance of AFNOR, the French national organization for standardization and French representative member of ISO, and a team of pedagogy experts and other higher education stakeholders. During the development stage, these experts identified three distinct stages of higher education programs that required attention and improvement in order to foster sustainability thinking in students that would lead to more sustainable practices in their subsequent personal and professional lives. The three phases are as follows : 1) program development, 2) program management and 3) ongoing program improvement.
The breakdown of a program lifecycle was designed in order to arrive at the structure of the framework:
Phase 1: Program development, including definition of objectives and content, faculty recruitment, selection of partnerships and academic equivalences.
Phase 2: Program management, including day-to-day operations, promotion and implementation, course content and other learning activities, student assessment and dynamic of faculty publications.
Phase 3: Ongoing program improvement, including teaching and program evaluation by stakeholders and their follow-up, program support for faculty and program contribution to better practices in higher education.
