ABOUT US
One Mission – Two Organizations
Join EDuC, an impact-first company, and Back to School for the Planet (BTSP), a registered nonprofit, were founded in France in 2020 and 2021, respectively, by Johanna Wagner and Carina Hopper. Both were business school sustainability lecturers driven by concerns that social and environmental aspects and impacts were being overlooked in university classrooms worldwide. While their activities vary, Join EDuC and BTSP share a common mission: to accelerate the integration of education for sustainable development (ESD) in higher education. The movements have attracted advocates from diverse sectors, whose contributions are essential to the organizations' impact.
About Join EDuC
Join EDuC drives change in higher education by elevating visibility and credibility for program-level sustainability commitments while empowering students to make informed choices about their studies. As the creator of the EDuC Label—the first sustainability accreditation for higher education programs across all disciplines globally—Join EDuC sets a new standard in sustainability in the student learning experience. Developed in partnership with AFNOR, France's national organization for standardization and the country's representative member of ISO, the EDuC Label reflects a rigorous commitment to embedding sustainability into academic curricula.
